It's the largest department store in the world, backdrop to an 80 year old Thanksgiving Day tradition and an American retailing icon, but what really goes on behind the scenes at Macy's? In WE tv's new eight episode series, Unwrapping Macy's, premiering September 30 at 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT, cameras follow real-life employees of this shopping institution at Macy's flagship store at Herald Square in New York City and at Macy's stores across the country.

The basis of Macy's success is its high quality products and the reputation they have among their customers. In the premiere episode viewers see how fashions and accessories are selected for the selling floors of its stores by following Macy's east coast fashion directors and buyers in charge of making these decisions. Also, follow the store's creative team through the photographing and design of a men's active wear catalog. Selecting sexy and sporty models is not as easy as you think.

Additional episodes will look at the responsibilities of the stores special events staff in New York and Los Angeles, window dressers and more. The series culminates with shows dedicated to the planning and problem solving required in executing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and SantaLand experience. Home to the one true Santa, it takes more than pointed ears to be a Macy's Elf!

From store publicists and security guards, to window dressers and balloon handlers it takes hundreds of dedicated individuals to make Macy's shine.
