Filming began on Monday, June 27 in the Peten region of Guatemala, specifically in Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo National Park.
18 individuals are reportedly the number of contestants expected to participate in the game this time around.

Several reports point at two previous Survivors participating in this edition. Survivor Phoenix assures that these two contestants will not be quitters from past seasons and they will also be popular and gritty. Furthermore, one will be a man and a woman. Survivor Fever has been told that the two will be none other than the two last remaining Ulong members: Stephenie LaGrossa and Bobby Jon Drinkard. There is no confirmation of this but they do fit the 'popular' label more than Wanda Shirk and Jonathan Libby, two players that were axed before the game truly began last season..
