Exclamation Series Renewals

The Amazing Race has been renewed!

Amazing Race Renewed For Eleventh Season

CBS has picked up the four-time Emmy-winning reality series THE AMAZING RACE for its 11th edition to be broadcast this spring. THE AMAZING RACE 10, hosted by Phil Keoghan, premiered on Sunday, Sept. 17 delivering 10.13 million viewers, 4.6/10 in adults 25-54, 3.9/09 in adults 18-49 and 3.1/09 in adults 18-34. This was the best delivery for any AMAZING RACE broadcast in viewers since Feb. 28, 2006, in adults 25-54 since March 21, 2006, in adults 18-49 since March 28, 2006 and in adults 18-34 since March 14, 2006.

THE AMAZING RACE 10, part of CBS's new Sunday lineup which includes COLD CASE and WITHOUT A TRACE, has helped boost the night in viewers and key demographics. THE AMAZING RACE 10 features 12 Teams of two on a trek around the world for approximately 30 days. At every destination, each Team competes in a series of challenges -- some mental and some physical -- and only when the tasks have been completed will they learn their next destination. Teams who are farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first Team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Bertram van Munster, Jonathan Littman and Hayma Screech Washington are the executive producers for Bruckheimer Television and Earthview Inc., in association with Touchstone Television and Amazing Race Productions. THE AMAZING RACE was created by Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri.

Default Hail the Conquering 'Heroes'

Hail the Conquering 'Heroes' - NBC series is season's first pickup

October 6, 2006

NBC has a mixed track record so far this season, but one show, "Heroes," has been as close to a breakout hit as any new series on the air.

Not surprisingly, then, the network has decided to stick with the show for a full season. "Heroes" becomes the first new series on any network to get its back nine episodes picked up.

"'Heroes' has delivered exceptional ratings since its premiere, and we're even more impressed with the quality of the upcoming episodes," NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly says. "We have complete confidence in creator-executive producer Tim Kring. The best is yet to come over the course of a full season with this newest drama sensation."

"Heroes" follows a group of people who have extraordinary abilities, from flight to hearing other people's thoughts. The show, which premiered Sept. 25, has hinted that they'll play a role in saving the world, though it's not clear how just yet.

Through its first two airings, the series has averaged 13.5 million viewers and a very solid 5.7 rating among adults 18-49. The 18-49 number is the best in its 9 p.m. Monday timeslot and tied with ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" for the best performance of any new show this season. "Heroes" has also been more of a self-starter, building substantially on its lead-in ("Deal or No Deal") each week, whereas "Brothers & Sisters" has the advantage of airing after "Desperate Housewives."

The cast includes Greg Grunberg ("Alias"), Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ali Larter ("Final Destination"), Masi Oka ("Scrubs"), Hayden Panettiere ("Ice Princess"), Milo Ventimiglia ("Gilmore Girls") and Adrian Pasdar ("Judging Amy").

"Heroes" has been easily the brightest spot among NBC's new shows thus far. Aaron Sorkin's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" had brought in only so-so ratings following "Heroes" on Mondays, and the net's other two dramas, "Kidnapped" and "Friday Night Lights," are struggling. Two new comedies, "30 Rock" and "Twenty Good Years," debut next week.

Default CBS Orders Full Seasons of 'Christine,' 'Unit'

CBS Orders Full Seasons of 'Christine,' 'Unit' - Second-year shows will run a full 22

Earlier this year, "The Unit" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" were uncertain midseason replacements, but now both shows have been ordered up for a full second season.

Industry trade papers have reported that both the Monday comedy and the Tuesday military drama have already been saluted with a back-nine order, bringing their season episode totals to the full compliment of 22.

Boosted by its "Two and a Half Men" lead-in and by star Julia Louis-Dreyfus' recent Emmy win, "Christine" pulled in 13.6 million viewers on Monday, better than last season's average of 12.5 million.

"The Unit," which stars Scott Foley and Dennis Haysbert, has stayed strong in a tough Tuesday hour, hooking 13.2 million viewers earlier this week.

Default Brothers & Sisters picked up for full season by ABC

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Maybe Calista Flockhart was smart to hold out for "Brothers & Sisters" in making her return to series TV.

The drama with the former "Ally McBeal" star was picked up for the full season by ABC, the network announced, citing its strong performance with the advertiser-favoured young adult audience.

"Brothers & Sisters" is the second-highest rated new series among viewers 18 to 49, behind NBC's "Heroes," through the first three weeks of the TV season. The ABC show has the advantage of following a hit, "Desperate Housewives."

In its most recent Sunday airing, the network noted, "Brothers & Sisters" won the 10 p.m. EDT hour among young adults against CBS' "Without a Trace" and "NBC Sunday Night Football" in preliminary ratings. The CBS and NBC programs have been in the lead among total viewers.

The ABC family drama stars Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Balthazar Getty, Matthew Rhys and Dave Annable as siblings, and Sally Field and Tom Skerritt as their parents
