TRENTON — Reality television made Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich household names.

Now, the couple who met on “Survivor,” teamed up on the “Amazing Race” and had their 2005 wedding filmed for a two-hour CBS special, are planning the most spectacular reality TV series of all time.

At least according to Mariano.

“I can’t tell you everything, but I can tell you certain things about it,” he said Thursday night during the Courier Times-sponsored Reality Television Night at the Trenton Thunder. “It will definitely revolutionize reality TV as we know it.”

Speaking exclusively to the Courier Times, Mariano said the new show, which he will host, will be “bigger than ‘Survivor,’ bigger than ‘Amazing Race.’

“It’s a competition reality show that will last over 100 days on all seven continents of the world,” he added. “First prize is over $10 million.”

Mariano said a nationwide “American Idol”-type search for contestants will begin in June, and the series will premiere next spring.

Judging by the reaction of fans at Thursday’s Thunder game, Rob and Amber are as popular as ever, despite their early exit from this year’s “Amazing Race: All-Stars.” The reigning first couple of reality television posed for photos and signed autographs on the concourse level of Waterfront Stadium for 90 minutes during the game.

Bensalem residents Melissa Taylor and Lori DeFinis, both 17, competed against Rob and Amber in a heated game of musical chairs on the field after the top of the first inning.

“We’re not going to take it easy on you,” Amber promised before the competition.

Not surprisingly, Rob “won” the game, although Taylor accused him of cheating.

“Win at all costs, baby,” Rob said when asked his strategy.

Cool

That is a funny article...thanks BBaholic for finding it.

Not sure how a show can be bigger than Survivor and bigger than the Amazing Race.

Any new show will "promise" it will be huge but the real test is when it debuts and how the people who are watching it connect with it.

Should be interesting to see what happens.

That show is going to be called "Tontine." Boston Robs Hosting, which is a scary thought.

Rob Mariano has been teasing an upcoming reality TV project since the spring, saying it would be bigger. Tontine will “the biggest cash prize in the history of reality television—$10 million,” according to a press release.

The show will feature 15 people participating in “100 days of mental and physical challenges” in order to “battle for possession of keys held by their fellow competitors. In the end, the one person who possesses all 15 keys wins the $10 million prize.” The announcement does not include a network, which likely means the show hasn’t been officially picked up yet.

Rob Mariano will host, and beyond that, he’ll give advice to the contestants, which should help if they want to fail to win four reality shows. “My own personal experiences will provide insight for the competitors to go for the win, no matter what it takes,” he said in the press release.

Previously, Rob told the Courier Times that the show he was working on “will definitely revolutionize reality TV as we know it” and is “bigger than ‘Survivor,’ bigger than ‘Amazing Race.’”

Casting begins later this month; details are on the show’s annoying Flash web site. http://www.jointhetontine.com/

The other $10 Million show is Power of 10 with Drew Carey. I saw a commercial, but forgot the network. Rob seems to be CBS' boy, so it's possible it's a Mark Burnett thing.

Default nation wide search

I think the idea of a nationwide search like AI is a great idea. . . the fact that they are travelling from city to city in a truck that looks like an armed tank is just awesome
